Hi guys first ever post be gentle!!

needed to move a single plug socket an inch no more to the right but the horrid builders used plasterboard adhesive and have glued everything! Any suggestions?

A little more info as to what your after here... are you refering to the wall adhesive in Dot and Dab method of sticking plasterboards to walls and thus assume its been adhered around the box???

sorry for basic info. managed to jimmy the box out - just but the cable is not moving in the slightest and it just wont reach the new position for socket and it so close!!!

When you said your moving it an inch i would expect the cable to be long enough to make this small 25mm adjustment, if you are moving it any further you may contravene wiring regs as the cable runs are required to be in zone with regards to the socket point, if you are confident it will still be in zone then only way is to carefully chop it out of adhesive, the adhesive dabs are usually no bigger than a plate.

ps welcome to the forum.

if you can be sure of the direction that the cable goes in you could try tapping with a wood chisel to remove the adhesive around the cable, working from the outside in (a few inches either side) but it might be easier to go for a same side crimp

I think most experienced on here will have had a similar situe' it does exactly what it says on the tin and bonds heavy boards onto wall... consequently its pretty hard stuff when set, just tap on the plaster board and you should be able to define the bounderies of the adhesive by the sound.

If the cables had be put in capping or tube (old skool stylie) then you'd have a chance that you could pull alittle slack giving the extra you need.....but someone decided tube/capping wasn't needed anymore....

Couldn't resist :troll:
