I have just watched a fire alarm system being installed and the fitters used all plastic cable ties on the cable tray.

Not a metal tie or bandy insight

Are metal ties still optional ??

If the cable tray is supporting the cables sufficiently to prevent premature collapse then there is no need to support them further.

Basically that means if the cables are above the tray and are supported by the tray, then it’s ok. If the cables are below the tray.... not ok.

What’s the tray held up with? Red plastic rawlplugs I would think.

not a problem with my installations. detectors are all wireless. system installed in a day. no cables, no chasing, no surface. no brainer.
