Does anyone else have problems with the flimsy cardboard boxes Prysmian cable is now supplied in?

The idea is you don't need a cable mate or spoola, the box is supposed to distribute the cable for you. All that happens is the cable cuts into the box, then the box falls apart. You're then left with cable on a flimsy cardboard spool.

Our company normally specifies Prysmian due to the quality of the cable, but the boxes are doing my head in!!

Tried once! a couple of years back when they started using those boxes, I just tear them off and pop it on the spooler

The company I work for has used Prysmian for a while now, I have to agree with you the boxes are useless. I usually just pull the drum out of the box and stick it on my cable rack.

Have always ripped the boxes off, but all the boxed prysmian I've used had a metal spool, have they changed that to cardboard?

OK cool. The cardboard has always been bunk because it has such a larger diameter, doesn't last two minutes.
