I have a 4KW Canadian Solar with a 3.8 centrosolar inverter. I managed to install it mid Feb'12 just as the 43p rate was coming to an end.
So if I wanted to extend to 6KW (ignoring the DNO point for a sec) I have few questions I keep getting varied answers to
- what rate would I get on existing 4wk & "new" 2kw
- Whats the most sensible installation option - install as a 2kw with a 2kw inverter or get a 6kw inverter and replace the existing 3.8 ?
- Now the DNO question, how can I find out if the 6Kw is acceptable to Scottish power (I have very little electrical knowledge) - do they just come and survey the property, cabling and loads ?

thanks Graeme.

Hi I would not interfere with your existing 4Kwp System as it is registered with you FIT provider and at the Higher rate 43p.

It is much better to install the new 2kw system along side what you have together with its own self generation meter and register it as an extension,
That way your original system A will be generating at 43p ( its no 46.81 ) and remain unaffected

Your 2Kwp extension will be generating at 13.99p as you are over 4Kwp and less than 10Kwp.

You will just have two FIT meter readings to send in.

How ever you will need permission first from your DNO to see if you can connect the additional 2Kwp to their Network, via a G59 ENA Application
