Hi All

I was having a discussion with my colleague regarding burying a swa directly along with a pvc earth cable.
As the earth is not an armoured does this need to be ducted for mechanical protection and if so is there a regulation in the BS 7681 for it?

As above 16mm can be buried without additional protection

Silly reg thou as if 10mm needs protection from a fork or spade surely 16mm does as well

Yes I’m definitely not a fan of burying any cable directly myself as it is never sanded or dusted the way it should to protect against sharp stones although the consultant has specified it this way. I know swa can be buried directly but I am unsure of the regulation for non armoured cables buried directly. Need regulation to let the consultant know.
