Hi all,
20 years ago I failed My C&G 236 part 2. My employer at the time would not let me resit.
I have carried on the trade taking 16th and 17th edition c&g 2391 and am also a Time served Approved JIB electrician.
I am finding problems now with failure to produce 236 1/2 preventing me from taking jobs.

Can anyone advise me as to what I have to do?

To be honest it is probably just due to the applications that do have the 236 making yours easier to dismiss. There are many applications for electricians job these days, I wish it was as easy to find lecturers.

Rather than jumping straight in with a full time post, you could consider a part time job or offer to take a few sessions somewhere to see if it is for you.

Ask to sit in at a local training centre /college (most places are either desperate or keen for new people)

You could start to gain qualifications as you go, but if you try it and find it's not for you then you haven't lost anything.

I started in the early 90's by a sort of accident and taught in London and Essex for 10 years, this in turn led to becoming a training officer for 8 years and now I work in adult NVQ assessment, so you you never know where it could end up.

The trick is not to show students what a fantastic electrician you are, but being able to understand that there are 2 types of learner, the hares and the tortoises, the hares usually look after themselves, it's the tortoises that need structured delivery and encouragement.

I hope this helps.
