A man who says he knows everything knows nothing.
We all foobar up now and again.
One who never asks for help will end up in trouble.
There is no shame in asking for help now and again.

Just ignore the bitter & twisted internet keyboard warrior losers, you know you are better than them.

There's a couple of points to this

Firstly, you can't take any abuse you may receive on here too seriously. It's the internet, people feel safe insulting other people anonomously. Anyone can hide behind a username and make out they are charlie big balls and belittle others. Its a bit like the idiots cutting people up on the road or tailgaiting other drivers - would they act like that in a supermarket queue? No, cause they'd get their teeth knocked out. It's safety in anonymity.

You've asked a theoretical question - not 'I'm just fitting a new consumer unit and I'm not sure which cable to plug into the main switch, can someone tell me quick?'

Then, there's over 550 people browsing this forum at the moment. Most will probably never post anything, they're searching through what is a massive electrical knowledge base. The original question will probable crop up again and again in people searches and will answer peoples questions - some diyers, apprentices, some experienced sparks.

Some will be sparks who've had a rough day at work - or maybe no work at all for a while and are bitter at seeing someone making an effort to better themselves - don't get riled, they win then.

I wish i could find the original post to make a better judgment but i do agree with most of the guys that say you should be allowed to ask any question you like without being lambasted about it.

I liked hercules post above.
