Have just bought one of the above testers, second hand off ebay, supposedly in excellent condition. It arrived today and appears to be working ok except for the backlight to the display. Anyone got any idea if this is an easy/cheap repair? Is it a feature people don't really see the need for anyway, or is it invaluable and i should get straight back to the seller about it. Any views appreciated.

Hi mate. First of all I would say get back to the seller about because if its not sold as described then you can get a full refund, ebay will support you.

If you do want to keep the tester then I would say just buy a cheap hedlamp, £5 from B&Q as it is an insulation continuity tester you will be testing with the power off and some light is handy from time to time - fault finding etc.

Sending it back to robin to repair the backlight will probably cost a fortune and its not essential anyway, as long as your readings are accurate.

Hi Lenny, thanks for the good advice. However, whilst using the tester i discovered that the backlight can only come on while actually testing - Doh ! So it is actually working perfectly. Faith now restored in human nature :D
