Hi guys,

Just wanted to ask if anyone knew whether its ok to run twin and earth in a purpose built skirting board designed to enclose cables.

I have seen pvc skirting boards and mdf skirting boards that are specially designed to enclose cables. All you'd have to do is a chase on the wall down as far as the skirting board. And run the cable to sockets.

This maybe useful in some cases, but i wasn't unsure whether its good practice.

If anyone has any info, that would be great.

Thanks

Imo it needs to be pretty obvious the cables are there and the skirting is concealing cables...
I generally do not like cables run horizontally behind skirting boards

I've uploaded an example here

Mm very interesting, not seen that before, who is it manufactured by and have you a link to their website?
Wouldn't normally put cables behind skirting boards, there is of course skirting trunking for such occasions, this could be a more aesthetically pleasing version I suppose.

Yeah that would be fine. It would class as a surface mounted trunking system.

Thanks for your reply,
