Got a job im pricing and can fit 16 panels on 4KW but 8 on SE and 8 on SW, i could fit few more on SW but though it would be better to split evenly.

I was thinking maybe a 3600tl with 2 mppt but pv sol is giving me better readings just using an everaolar 4000tl with 1 mppt.

Do you think it may perform better on 1 mppt considering the azimuths are not the same?

I don't think pv sol recognises twin tracker inverters, I think you have to do something with two inverters, our engineer went on the pv sol course, I'll ask him tomorrow.

Tom

No it won't work very well on 1 mppt, the one array will drag the other down and then visa versa, the SMA 3600TL would be a good choice, or maybe something even slightly smaller.

funny that as i have just read a document from fronius in which they prove that a single mppt inverter can output just as much as a twin tracker on a split system (2 strings in parallel)

Strange that, in another thread you say that 6 shaded panels is not partial shading.
so does an east west split not get partial shading?

I also watched a video in which David Cameron said they are going to be the greenest government ever...

Not too sure on what fronius say on that, maybe I am just skeptical.

Single MPPT is not correct choice if you have panels facing diffrent directions you need an MPPT for each one??

do you not know a MPPT takes an average of all the panels performance ?

so if you have one string of 16 all the 16 panels will be averaged out which is not bad if they all one way!!!!

but with spilt system when the one roof is shaded that will bring the average right down !!!!

I proved to PVSOL guys that their climate data for our area was miles out, it was about 20% less than SAP and my system out performed sap by 12% and I'm still waiting for it to be put right.

More to the point we always use twin trackers on split installations, there's rarely much of a price differential so why wouldn't you?

This article may be accurate, the guy who wrote it does know his stuff... It would take a lot of number crunching to digest it properly though. However - I doubt Fronius would have taken the time to write it if they did have a comprehensive range of twin tracker inverters!

of course it also tells us that SINGLE MPPT INVERTER is cheaper than a twin which is not really the case anymore
