job was to replace 4 halogen GU10s with 5Watt kosnic LED lamps. 15 mins then switched on. kosnics flashing like strobe lights. head up into loft with headlight on, found the JB where all came together. YUCK. 5 1.5mm T/E in terminals designed for max. of 3. (2" asley JB). recently installed by the builder's "electrician". electrician my arse, domestic installer, scam member. the actual problem with the LEDs was the voltage here. 145V. customer wondered why the old halogens were a bit dim. traced the cause to loose switched L in the wall switch. then stripped back these T/E's, sheathing inside decent sized JB, connecting the cpc's which has been snipped off. then did a Zs to confirm cpc's .

time and time again we see stuff like overpopulated terminations/entrys and CPCs that have had the treatment (snipped)..lol.....poor/no understanding of 'safe zones' etc.....it just goes on..n on..n on.......

I must admit I can never see the point of snipping the CPC, if you are really not going to use it, why cut it off! It just makes things so much harder to repair.
wether your going to use it or not is neither here nor there....there has to be a means of earthing at every point within a fixed installation....regardless of wether its going to be used or not......now obviously...you wouldn`t apply this to selv on the outgoing side but definately on the incoming........
