Spot the mistake

The water clowns have been at it again, and it gave me a good laugh so I thought I'd share it.

They've installed a new waste pipe for the condensate from the new boiler in the loft.
The problem isn't immediately obvious but if you look close enough there is a clue.

If nobody gets it I'll post another pic which might help

Oh my, if that grey pipe is existing and for the purpose I think it is then someone is going to have a very awkward apology to the customer.

Thankfully I've spotted it and told the plumber before anything gets turned on, but it could certainly have been trouble.

As I’m not much of a plumber - I’m going to ask - is the problem that the condensate drain is placed into a sewer vent pipe? Which might lead to methane being fed back, oops.

I think it's a solid duct for a bathroom extract fan. Note the cable popping down next to it.

They were aiming for the soil pipe which is a few feet to the left, they've actually connected to the extractor fan

TBH I doubt the home owner would even notice, it must rain condensation out of that fan vent after a shower in the winter.

The fan is directly above the bog, so I reckon they'd notice when it randomly dumps water on them

I went to one, plumber had connected pressure relief valve from hot water heater into extract pipe. Boiling water showered through the ceiling mounted extractor fan over one of the toilets, thankfully no one was in there at the time. I had to replace the damaged fan. There was some sort of investigation and I don't think the plumbing company got any more work there...

My son moved into a small rented new barn conversion late last year, within a week the bog was backing up. Investigation showed two soil pipes coming out of the ground, one to a septic tank and the other for the as yet not installed rainwater guttering going to a soakaway. Guess which one the plumber connected the waste to?
In fairness to him he did not install the drainage outside.

Did a really up market restaurant in York, rushing to finish before the opening. The toilets were directly above the spanking new kitchen and the plumber left the wastes loose on all the bogs. Opening night and they got through with the suspended ceiling getting a bit damp. Nobody noticed until the next day. What a filthy mess that kitchen was.

Water clowns ha ha ha ha that’s now an official term....I’ve got 3 plumber mates I’m off to abuse em! ?
