Hi guys been asked to install some meters on static caravans today. When checking it out I found the homes are all fed from the same supply with a weatherproof enclosure below each one where the SWA is connected to t+e that feeds each van. Should these not have their each individual hook up points with RCD and over current protection?

What do you mean by the same supply? Is it one large radial distribution circuit which loops from van to van?

He's asking if there should be an indivudual RCD and MCD at each van's hook-up box. Daz

Static homes are a real pain, they technically do not come under the 708 section of the Regs, but should be dealt with as a normal installation to the BS 7671. After all most static homes are not connected via a 16 amp plug but have a permanent hook up.

Again the IET have left things open when section is headed caravan/camping parks and Similar Locations

If a static home is not on a similar location then what is it on. I have always used the relevant parts of both the normal regs and the special location part to jerry pick the best installation.

Though the T & E is intriguing

It's a mobile or transportable unit treated the same as any portacabin, modular school classroom building etc etc isn't it?
