Hi
I am replacing a two way two gang switch for the same but a dimmer.
I got interrupted mid way through and now can’t remember which wire is which and where it goes! Rookie mistake I know.
Can you please help?

Aside from the earths it will be a leap of faith to tell from a distance where those conductors belong.

Thanks for your reply. Would these additional pictures help at all? I can’t afford to pay for an electrician and want to do it myself.

I am sorry to say that I have met many Newley trained electricians that would struggle to get there head round that lot.

What electrical experience do you have?
What test equipment do you have?

Ignoring the earths it looks like you have six conductors disconnected. As previously stated it would be a leap of faith to correctly advise you.

How many actual cables are there, and are they all twin and earth?
I can only count 9 live/neutral conductors and 5 earths.

hmmm... Stockport is at the limit of my area, but I can advise the OP that I could fix for a max cost of £70. maybe a member closer would be less.

I'm not impressed that the dimmer switch has a shared common terminal, that would be rather unsuitable in some wiring situations.

I'm afraid you may have to just pay for an electrician. We can speculate as to what each cable is but realistically it's impossible to hell without being on site with a voltage tester.

Thank you for all your comments. I do remember that the sleeved blue one was wired in with one of the brown ones if that helps.
move attached a couple of pics from my four way switch to see if that helps also? 7183337C-B381-46E4-99C2-BE17F1D6044C.jpegC283B784-C397-4B8D-BFFA-08B20DAF7256.jpegC283B784-C397-4B8D-BFFA-08B20DAF7256.jpegC283B784-C397-4B8D-BFFA-08B20DAF7256.jpegC283B784-C397-4B8D-BFFA-08B20DAF7256.jpeg7183337C-B381-46E4-99C2-BE17F1D6044C.jpeg

Sorry, I’d missed your post with the offer. Thank you for the offer but it’s a pride thing as well as money and I really want to see I do it myself!
Also I’ve been away for a few days which is why I’m only looking at it again now!
