most companies seem to have a 'guy who does the testing'.
Although you're completely right Adam I can't help thinking that that approach is contributing to the down hill slide. I think that every electrician should be fully conversant with testing procedures and be willing and able to test his/her own work. I've been on sites where I've been asked how to test by supposedly apprenticeship trained people. I've also had an argument with one bloke who swore blind that he should not be testing because he didn't hold 2391.
Also, there's always the chance that "tester bloke" doesn't fully know what he is doing and will sign something off as acceptable when it isn't. Slim I know but.......

Does the name of the company include the word "not"?

No mate, to be fair to the QS and Head of electrics, they're sound, know their stuff and are good as gold with us, there is a side arm to the company though that doesn't consult them as much as they should because electrics are a very small part of their work, and all the "arm" wants is something to include with invoicing, and they'll probably use my EIC for the board upgrade.
