Although you're completely right Adam I can't help thinking that that approach is contributing to the down hill slide. I think that every electrician should be fully conversant with testing procedures and be willing and able to test his/her own work. I've been on sites where I've been asked how to test by supposedly apprenticeship trained people. I've also had an argument with one bloke who swore blind that he should not be testing because he didn't hold 2391.most companies seem to have a 'guy who does the testing'.
Also, there's always the chance that "tester bloke" doesn't fully know what he is doing and will sign something off as acceptable when it isn't. Slim I know but.......
