Hello again....I have one question that is confusing me slightly I think im overthinking it?!)

A mains operated room thermostat requires three conductors to enable it to operate correctly. Can you connect the thermostat to an existing two core and cpc cable and:

a) Use the earth
b) Use the earth and sheath with green and yellow
c) Use the earth and sheath with Brown
d) Not use at all

Would it be possible to explain why also as im a little confused?!

Basic Stat line in (supply) line out (load ) both brown or sleeved brown , cpc green / yellow in earth terminal , iif no earth terminal crimp and leave in stat

Thank-you, I think I should have spent more time in the sun today, and less time with my head in my books.....information overload?!
Thanks for all replies, much appreciated.

Joey.

battery stat is two wire

mains or programmable- 4 core minimum- supply+ swiched live

a setpoint stat can be 5 or 6 core - supply +changeover contact

Basic room stat you need 3 core plus earth connections can vary but one exampli is terminal 1 feed terminal 2 neutral terminal 3 out Heating terminal 4 out Cooling thats a honeywell type stat ,you need the neutral for the heater within the stat good place too look up all kinds of room stats is the honeywell site Honeywell
