on a timber framed house how are ring main circuits run , ie in external walls are they taken up through horizontal timbers of the ceiling voids and then run through vertical timbers socket to socket. only asking as the 1 copy of building regs explained states that horizontal timbers must not be drilled, yet i cannot find any referance to it in the blackwell pulishing building regs.

still trying to learn it all but still lack practical experiance

From downstairs, up into ceiling space dropping down for socket locations and popping up through floor for upstairs circuit ran inbetween stud Walls. Then either put in noggings for metal boxs ( my prefered option ) or left and once boarded dryline boxs cut in.
