Hi All

Our yearly renewal of liability/ indemnity insurance ( Trade direct ) has come up.
This does include £1000 of tools cover.

£1000 isn't going to get very far if the worst does happen.

Thinking of shopping around and pricing this up as a separate policy.

£5000 min would be a better amount.

Does anyone else have separate tool cover if so how much do you pay and with which company?

Cheers Sy

yep, small print on most policies says not covered in van 9pm to 6am unless van is in locked premises. my PL is with octopus and includes £2500 tools any time day/night.

can't remember exact premium, but i pay around £9/month. don't have PI any more as it's not worth it for the amount of EICRs i do these days.

Best you read the small print of any policies, as a lot of them won't cover them in your van!

As Murdoch says... read the small print. I had a policy (was most popular online one at the time) small print got them out of everything.
In the office / stores - should be covered by contents insurance, same at home. Didn't cover sites, offices people houses or left in the van!!

Ok it was only £64 but £64 for nothing, also the excess was high.

It's Arthur J Gallagher, who are Stroma's recommended broker. They found me an insurer who would allow the addition of secondary trades to the policy. Price is good too.

Edit, phone:
01384 82221462639

That phone number was copied and pasted from one of their letters, but is clearly too long. Here's another one that might work:
01384 862 639
