Hi everyone,
Bought some Flexi meter tailes from a supplier today , Am I going crazy or that I marked up incorrect . The Flexi tiles I’m used to has 19 strands of copper or similar, opposed to the normal six or seven.
The ones I’ve got today, Looked like finally stranded wire, at least 200 strands. (I didn’t count them all but that looks about right).
Correct me if I’m wrong but I’m pretty sure these a tri rated cables, And not meant to be used as standard meter tiles.
Checked on the cable and it’s marked up as 6181Y, so the code is correct.
Haven’t used them yet, Once everyone think of these as meter tailes ?? And yes they are double insulated or insulated and sheathed singles.
??

Odd, any idea of the maker?

The issue with fine stranded wire ia (a) you should use a ferrule, and (b) most DNO do not approve them for connection to the cut-out or meter terminals.

The brand on the cable says Dikkan, just had a look closer and Don’t know if it’s been printed correct or not as it says 6181Y, then further along the cable it says 6381Y!!
Thanks for that as well, thought I boot lace feral would be needed, And didn’t know about that with the DNO, Has never had these before.
Looks like it’s going to be a return to them tomorrow, They’ll be happy as they were cut to length ??

Sounds like you may have 6381Y and not 6181Y, are you sure you aren't misreading it.
Edit: we posted at the same time.

I have has similar before, ordered tails, got some blue in 6181Y and brown in 6381Y.
not amused when i went to fit them.

It looks handy stuff for some jobs, but just not what you wanted!

Last time I needed something I just got the Doncaster Easi-Fitl kit from Toolstation as it was in stock and only minutes away.
