hi all,
haven't posted for a while, but i have been here - reading and learning. i'm hoping to get a little advice on a low pfc i've come across.
a mate has been extending his bungalow, and wants the full rewire. i've gone to have a look, and i've basically done pre work checks to assess the situation.
its a TT system, and the meter on the outside of the property has recently been moved by western power. i've come along and the meter is all connected back up to the CU. polarity is ok.
bonding is all there, with 10mm on the services and 16mm main earthing conductor. earth rod method 2 comes back with 29.4 ohms.
PSC comes back with 507A, but the PFC is only 8A !

I'm wondering if this is a cause for concern and why it should be so low?

cheers guys,

tawraste

it's low because of the 29 ohms Ze. I = V/R ... I = 230/29 = 7.9A. your 8A is spot on. this is why you need to install RCDs to all circuits in order to achieve disconnection times in the event of an earth fault. 8A will never trip a MCB>

Your readings are not a cause for concern, that is, if there is an rcd present,if not, it needs one pronto until you get round to the rewire, because of the reasons posted by tel

Your PFC is the highest of the values for PSSC (507A) and PEFC (8A).
To whit 507A.
