Hi, moved into a house with Veritas R8. One PIR is faulty, stopping alarm getting set. Don't have engineer codes (tried 1234, 4321 etc). How can I permanently disable the zone which is faulty?

The easiest way would be to link out the alarm contact in the PIR

Alternatively factory default the panel and then reprogram it

Thanks for information. What would linking out the alarm contact in the PIR require me to do?

The PIR will have three pairs of connections which are power + & -, tamp or tamper and alm or alarm if you put the 2 cables in the alarm connections together in one connector this will link out the PIR and once the lid is replaced if you reset the panel then you should be able to set it normally

Thanks. So just join the two alarm cables together (red and black in this picture). Sorry for several questions - want to make I don't do anything foolish!

So can you give a little more info to see if we can narrow down the fault
When you try to set the panel what indicators are lit or flashing on the remote keypad, is the green LED on the main control unit solid or flashing
Do you know when the panel battery was last changed in the main control box
As a last resort you could reset the panel to factory defaults and reprogramme it but you would need to know each zone location

coulds be a alarm - tamper short on the cable. in which case need to remove tamper pair in panel.

Changed battery last week and seems to be working fine when turn electric off.

When setting it have solid red light for PIR with problem and flashing green for unset, which goes solid when press 'full'. Solid green on main box.

May just have to live with it and omit 3 when setting - which is not a massive problem! Don't fancy a full reset!!!

Thanks

Thanks - so disconnect both tamper wires for this PIR within the main panel? Everything else keep as is?
These panels have a global tamper so you will have to identify the correct pair at the panel

If the panel is setting by omiting the detector then it is unlikely to be a tamper fault

The best solution is to buy a new detector to replace the faulty one they are not that expensive at less than £10
