1 that doesn't go bang when you apply 230v on the wrong range. seriously, all depends what you want to use it for. any will do if you just want to bell out circuits when dead. check out the forum sponsor " test-meter"

The megger MFT1500 series all the way . Flukes ... you need a million hands to test anything. Seewards are to complicated . Megger all the way .

lets be honest here . Megger is like hoover. You call a vacum cleaner a hoover. Like when testing . You say to your buddy ' do you want to do the meggering' for insulation resistance. Or as a practical joke you 'megger' him on 250v ... or if your really nice 500v .

why does every thread about the best multimeter turn into a discussion about multifuction testers? i would go with Fluke mate, 113 model probably but i'm still using an older model.

If you really mean multimeter rather than MFT, then Gossen Metrawatt are probably the best out there. I have the Metrahit Especial which has great specs and is a really nicely designed bit of kit. Makes the Fluke 287 that I use at work feel like a toy.
