Look at it this way way if you pinned the landlord against a wall put a stanley knive to his throat he would get you done for assault don't get me wrong its not easy I have fretted over some jobs like this but a dick is a dick so when you try to argue with him he will dig in even deeper so I take the passive approach "Well if you want to ignore me then fine I cannot force you but in the eyes of the law you are now legally obliged to sort it now that you have been informed and you are not obliged to use me to sort it but here is my report and bill"

The UK has so many laws, but few are actually upheld.

It would be too much to hope that you could take your "gripes" to somebody local with "teeth" and get a fairly urgent repair(s) done.

Local? With teeth? Let me know if you find any. National papers maybe but local, not round here.

It does not work that way ie someone needs to die then a national newspaper needs to pick it up then the politicians look at it to see if its worth running with yes cynical but thats how it goes

I seek some information fromthe Electrical-Safety-Council .

Private -Landlord . Private-sector

Gentlemen I thought I would make some decreeenquiries .
This was the reply .
CONFIDENTIALITY NOTICE

Good morning ,

Thank you for gettingin touch. In response to your query; From a legal perspective the landlord is required to ensure that the property is electrically safe and is in a good condition.
While they have no legal obligation to carry out a condition report,

this isobviously the best way to ensure that the electrics are sound and we recommendthat they do so every 5 years minimum.

If you have concernsabout the tests carried out by the NICEIC contractor then it is something worthreporting to them, as they have a duty to ensure that their electricians aremeeting the right standards. If your landlord is in breach of the law and the electricsare not safe then it is something that you should take up with either yourlocal authority or the citizens advice bureau. More information can be found onour website here:

( PS . Myself no complaints about the NICEICInspector )

I wonder if he's an electrician or a cowboy builder :P

Getting back to the original subject...

Probably just another fast track wonder that thinks a 17th Ed and a PAT C&G's makes him a qualified electrician!! It's this sort of thread, that shows/highlights the total lack of understanding these guy's are bringing into paying customers homes!!

And these providers have the ultimate cheek to beat the drum about Electrical Safety!! It's Complete farce...

Engineer54. you are right my friend

I am struggling to justify myself with all this Safety flying around . !! in Customers homes . The good new is my life insurance is up to date.

I will be asking for the NICEIC for there opinion . Not holding my breath here .

Is it me or are people (original op an example) becoming thicker?
I started to read this thread and rapidly became aware that some people (op a prime example), seem to be descending along the evolutionary ladder. It seems odd that such cretins also have C&G qualifications and are able to charge (without an adults help) for their pernicious incompetence :ihih:

Has this guy had previous experience or practical work training before taking the C&G exams?. This is the problem with our industry, somebody goes through the academic qualification route and straight away unleashes himself on a fuseboard change without having gained enough practical experience under supervision. No testing or idea of how to lay out the board and then hopes for the best by blindly swapping wiring and circuitry about without knowing what is what. He can then go an register with a scammer scheme yet time served sparks then get downgraded as Domestic installers. DO ME A FAVOUR!!!

mate he's probably got the really difficult C&G2382 exam along with most of colchester zoo....so he's in with all the scam providers and as long as he promises not to eat anyone he can do the easy electrics or "piece of **** (wee)" as its called in s****horpe (s****) (scun ...t).........just checking
