Found this gem on an EICR today.

Part still wired in VIR, but also a newer part that I thought might be better...

Always nice to see a TN-S-C install in the wild! 🤦‍♂️

The yellow twist from a bag of bread or similar was a nice touch I felt!

TN-C-C

In theory it was a TN-S supply (with bonding clamp round metal incomer obviously...) - though Ze was low enough to suggest it was effective PME

Is that a looped N ?

I have seen some very strange lighting where you have 1 SL but a pair of Ns at the light
I didn't have time to investigate fully in the loft, but seems to be a junction box above, with SL and N coming down, and then the extra wire from the N block to the earth block on the (metal) light fitting.

Half of the property in VIR that is falling apart, and the new part with all CPC cut short, or not connected at source.

Fortunately a bungalow, so lighting rewire should be relatively painless.

Sounds like a method of wiring using sheathed singles that I see commonly round here. Line loops from switch to switch, neutral from light to light, with a SL from switch to light.

Glands and grommets are for losers….

Do love the fact they cut the armour back outside the CU.

I bet the person who fitted that new consumer unit thought ' that is one pukka job ' might even add it to my insta page

Or put it on a YouTube channel 😀😀

Is it not spelt "puke" ?

Doesn’t look like that anymore. 😇

Even used a SWA Storm gland for the armour with the fancy wiska earthing nut that strips the paint off to earth the box as well as the armour. Complete with Wiska Tails gland and intumescent grommets.

The additions are probably worth more than the board 🤣

I just love the open perps to stick a cable through into the cavity. 🤔

I'm not sure this cable entry is large enough, three boards and all like this.
