I am getting an Anderson plug outlet put in Mitsubishi Triton to charge 100Ah deep cycle battery in a camper trailer. The Auto Electrician wants to put in an isolator; however the camper trailer will be disconnected from the Triton when I'm not driving, or running the deep cycle battery, so...
Hi,
I have 3 isolator switches in my flat that appear to do nothing. Turning them on or off does not change any electrical appliance and the lights don't come on on the isolator switches. The wiring is also black in both live and neutral sockets with one green earth (see picture) which has...
I have an old CU with BS3036 rewireable fuses. I'm having the board upgraded soon but in the meantime I'd like to add RCD protection. Can anyone tell me where I can find a consumer unit isolation switch with RCD built in - to fit between the meter and the CU?
Hello All,
Sorry if this is a ridiculous question - as I am not an Electrician I wanted to check whether my initial thoughts were correct before answering a question from a neighbour
I have been asked by a neighbour whether a 45 Amp DP switch with Neon indicator is a correct isolator switch...
I am drawing up a contract for a job in a domestic property which has a 3-phase Distribution Board and need to supply 3ph to a heat pump that's in the same room. An MCB in the DB will feed an RCD in its own enclosure, mounted next to the heat pump 3 metres away. I know that an RCD is desirable...
Hi, I have been asked to fit a 32a isolator ready for an air con unit and picked one up from screwfix. Unfortunately the one I have is a 4 pole, can this still be used with 6mm t&e or do I need to replace it with a 2 pole. If it can be used do I just use terminals L1 & T2
Thanks
Hi All,
I've just had a new condition report. He's given C2 for no fan isolator which I don't agree with.
He also given C2 for the boiler being on a plug/socket rather than a DP switch. I really can't see that being potentially dangerous, what do you guys think?
Also the free standing electric...
A POST FOR DISCUSSION
An EICR in my rented flat concluded that an RCD was required among a few other small jobs. I was away while the remedials were carried out but these photo are of the work which was done.
The double pole main isolator was removed and replaced with the 80A RCD and among...
So the situation is this:
Historic 4 story townhouse to 4 flats conversion.
Supplier 3-phase cut out coming in at basement level (One of these will have a 60amp fuse, unsure whether the other 2 contain solid links or additional 60amp fuses yet).
1 phase feeding basement.
4-core SWA containing...
Simple replacement of an old noisy fan. Should have been rip the old one out, put the new one in. Only change is the new fan has a timer overrun which was chosen due to the old tenants leaving it in for so long it eventually went bust. The old fan didn't have a timer.
Anyway... I've got the new...
An interesting phone conversation with my own electricity supplier (Good Energy) which was very disappointing, and made me sigh (professionally) :(
They phoned out of the blue to ask if they could book a date to replace my gas and electricity meters with smart versions. I said I'd probably be...
Hi folks,
Homeowner here. I'm in the planning stage of a project, seeking advice from professionals.
I need to upgrade the ventilation in my home following advice from a surveyor. The plan is to replace my one bathroom fan with two fans (one shower extractor and one MVHR unit). In addition, I...
I have moved in 3 days to a flat which seems to have a lot of problems. I have not had hot water yet and the agent tells me I will pay for a call-out if it will be something simple and I could have found it on the internet.. So I am paranoid. The red light is on. I usually would have a shower...
Hello - my sister has had an EICR done for a small flat. There is a C2 for "ensuite no fan isolator" and a C2 for "no isolator for immersion". Just asking if an isolator is a definite requirement for either of these? The immersion is on a radial with its own circuit breaker.
Hi guys, I am going to install a device, it is running microwave magnetron up to 2kW, with power supply of 230V/Single phase/ 50Hz.
According to manufacturer's instruction, it supposed to be connected to a 16A MCB/isolator for protection.
The problem now is that the location only has a 32A...
Hi
I am wanting to purchase a Metal Clad or ABS 40A RCD/MCB isolator to feed a 40 Tube Sun bed, not quite sure whether to get just the 40A RCB or get a 63A RCB with a 40A MCB , something on the lines as per pics shown, I need it to be as small a foot print has possible.
cheers
