Discuss 3 phase dis board mounting heights in the Canada area at ElectriciansForums.net

Does anyone know of any regulations for mounting heights of 3 phase dis boards in commercial premises .
Part M of the building regs is really only for domestic properties and having a dis board @1200mm off the floor in an office block just does not seem right.

Possibly the only thing that might have a bearing is the Disability Discrimination Act 2005 which requires switching to be at a level suitable for access from a wheelchair. This is another one of those wonderful interpretation situations as generally distribution boards are not included within the definition of "switching" though I have heard of one case where a local authority (who else) required a DB mounted at 1200mm.

tony, but why would the local authority be meddling with 3 phase boards???

Hi Shakey

The local authority wanted their offices to be user friendly for disabled people and therefore decided that mcbs in a dis board would be classed as switching. I assume that political correctness was the order of the day as in their reception they now have welcome in about a dozen different languages.
