I have a 66 Ford Falcon with a 2 speed wiper motor that stopped working. I found that the motor body was isolated from grounding to the car body. I was able to get it to work again by connecting a ground wire from wiper motor body to the car body. My question is why is the wiper motor isolated from grounding and will it cause any problems if I leave it the way it is with the ground wire I added? Any insight would be very helpful and appreciated, thanks

if you trace the cable that feeds the motor back, you will find a poor ground connection which you have bypassed with grounding it direct.
