Discuss Anti Corrosive Fluorescent Fittings in the UK Electrical Forum area at ElectriciansForums.net

Does anyone else ever have problems with anti corrosive fluorescent fittings giving way. The base seems to become brittle overtime causing the fitting to giveway even when using washers. Just back from a job where the fitting had dropped from the ceiling. Luckily it didn't fall on anyone.
Any solutions appreciated.
Thanks

image.jpeg Most of them come with proprietary clips to fix them with. Never had a problem when using these as they can be used for either suspended or direct fixing.

The one I was at there had the clips which gave way. Was an emergency fitting so more weight. Maybe just cheap fittings. Any brand you would recommend?

The one in the pic is Sylvania, pretty expensive but seems like it's a good quality.

I have also come accross a lot these weatherproof fittings where the spine has split around the fixings even though these older types allowed for fixing straight through the fitting with a rubber washered screw. I hate this new design with a spring clip it can make replacing a existing fitting a real pain especially where the cable/flex is fed through the ceiling like in a cold room.
