Backermatic Immersion Thermostat

Please could anyone help me?

I am replacing an immersion thermostat, There are 2 wires, Does it matter what sides they go to?

No. The thermostat is simply a switch, two pieces of metal touching together.

uou usually find that the lead from the element will only reach to 1 of the terminals, so the feed goes in tother 1
