bathroom light fault

Hi Guys,
I appreciate the best answer is get a sparky out to sort it but my usual sparky is on hols for 3 weeks so just want to run this one by you guys just to make sure I am not missing anything simple.

bathroom
double light switch
one controls fan/single light
other controls 4 extra spots

fan and single light works all 4 spots have stopped. they are 12v off of transporter. changed switch and also changed transporter, still no luck. I have not used a tester at this stage as not too sure what setting for electrics just use it on car .

I had some spare 240v spotlights so wire one direct to the live and neutral that was going to transporter to run the 4 lights and nothing.

I am guessing that my live wire is not live anymore but cant understand how this could just happen?

is there something I am missing or do I need to venture into the unknown and hire a different sparky.

alternatively could I just wire everything off of one switch by joining the live and transformer to the junction box that has the live for my fan light which is working fine.

You shouldn't be doing any electrics yourself, especially in a bathroom! But, could be any number of things, loose connection, burnt cable etc. A sparky worth his salt will not only ensure the problem is solved, but also that there isn't any dangerous underlying fault. This is why we do tests such as insulation resistance testing.....

I would advise you to get an electrician in

Forget about replacing the downlights as the fault will either be in the switch, the cable to the transformer (if you say you have already replaced the transformer) or a broken connection
Transporter is meant to says/written as transformer

This kind of fault and correction would not normally take an electrician a hour (or 2) to find and fix

ok scrap that, as i replaced both the switch and the transformer I have just noticed the new switch was slightly different connections were in reverse.
I put my old switch back on with the new transporter and everything is now working.

I have not altered any wiring at all from when the original sparky wired in the spots other than just directly putting in the new transformer the same as the old one was removed.

this I am guessing should be ok.

to clarify what I meant with the switch I just counted the terminals i.e 3 across top 3 across bottom and put wires in mirror image. turns out old switch was L2 L3 COMM across top but new one was COMM L2 L3. so mirror image old one back on and everything is as it was before

Well done, hope you terminated it right. Just cause it works doesn't mean it's good.
