Just out of interest, what height do you find boards in on new housing estates? I've seen them in all sorts of silly places, when they are above a kitchen cupboard that's got to be the worst.

Anything thats wired by Clarkson is normally in the downstairs thunder box touching the ceiling

Nahhhh i love standing on the top of me steps, ( you know the bit that says "do not stand" on it) to change a breaker!

Maybe you are not ment to sit on the top incase a screwdriver pokes up your bum where you have put in through the hole in the top! They probably say don't stand on it so that you go and buy another bigger pair of steps!

I suspect there's no normal or common height in new properties. I think I'll pop and have a look at some new houses they have just built near me to see where they are.

new build, narrow utility, above tall unit with high gloss doors, tight to ceiling and wall. fair play to them though, they had foresight to leave armoured cable for outbuilding, poorly glanded to steel armour, no banjo, no locknut (sorry, i lied, they were there in a bag!), tight to wall for me to connect - nice

Same with bloors.

Middle of the house so how are you supposed to get any cables to it without lifting the whole of the upstairs floor

My mums just brought a brand new Taylor wimpy house the consumer unit is in the garage at ceiling level. To top it all though the meter is on the opersite side of the house and they have just used meter tails to run to the board. They are buried under the plasterboard dry lining up to the ceiling then under the floor into the garage a run of probably 20 meters.

Oh I believe u, just like to kid myself because John Bloor who owns Bloor homes also owns my beloved Triumph motorcycles

Stepdad has the tiger 800 and its a nice bike.

They should stick to bikes but to be honest the electrics etc are subbied out
