Discuss Can anyone identify this SDS tool and where to buy it in the Electrical Tools and Products area at ElectriciansForums.net
Hi RSgasHere you go...
Looking for a back box sds sort of chisel
Does any one know the name of this sds chisel in the photo I've had it a while but cannot find another or what it's called, it's great for doing neat back box cuts in brickwww.electriciansforums.net
Hi teletrix. Don’t suppose you remember where you got it or what they called it ?got one.had it for ages. OK for thermalite block but try on brick and you may as well pi$$ into the wind.
Cheers for that. At least I’m not going mad. They do existAs others have said, it doesn't work on hard brick. I tried one for a while a few years back, but decided a selection of SDS chisels was much easier, stopped carrying it in my box of SDS bits, and I finally threw it out only a few weeks ago.
I can't seem to find anyone who has these, the only links I can find seem to be discontinued, e.g.:
I'm pretty sure I bought mine off eBay at the time, and certainly didn't pay that much for it.Sitebox Ltd » Square Hole Cutter SDS+ Fitting » Product
Square Hole Cutter SDS+ Fitting, Square Hole CutterThe Square Hole Cutter can be used in breezeblock and other masonry materials to cut square holes for electr..www.sitebox.ltd.uk
Just to add you should have the extension lead fully unwound before using it.Dear all
Borrowed this tool on site today and want to buy one
It fits onto an SDS drill, set it on hammer and it cuts out for metal back boxes
It measures 75mm x 35mm.
I’ve searched everywhere I can think of but can’t find it
Anyone know ?

Let me know if you find the one in the photo please ??I read these threads yesterday... both for sds chisels for sinking boxes...
Then low and behold, today looking at a job where customer wants addition sockets in her living room.... all brick walls.
Looks like I’m going to need one too.
Let me know if you find the one in the photo please ??
Especially if you use it on brickJust to add you should have the extension lead fully unwound before using it.
I tried to call it that but the missus was not impressed.I'm guessing the goons in marketing, opted for something like "Box-Blaster",
I must admit I've never really given stitch drilling a proper go, always seemed a bit long winded to me than just scutch chopping once through the plaster.much easier to stich drill and then use a sds scutch chisel. using this method, i do a double box cut-out in engineering brick in 10 minutes or less.
Whatever method you choose,it goes without saying, the material being carved,is the deciding factor.
I have dealt with innocent looking walls in Cornwall and Wales, where every fifth aperture, required a thermic lance
