Some expert insight needed please.

The Chilton 240 shaver socket in guest bathroom which is cosmetically good has failed and I cannot source a replacement. The unit is the old British format wider / shorter than modern units.

The unit has a 1:1 transformer switched on when needed by integral switch.

So to the question. Is there any reason why I cannot bypass transformer/ switch and make socket live permanently. I see no reason for the transformer in the first place and there is no integral fuse either.

appreciate comments or better still does anyone have 'new' old stock

Do not do that

Ah ah ... So the transformer is double wound type so can tolerate single fault . Got it

But if any one has a unit please let me know

Hi. Did you find a solution. We have the same and want to replace it. Thank you
