I am refurbishing a Colchester Student Mk2 centre lathe for my model engineering workshop. The wiring to the two speed motor incorporated a separate safety controller box that monitored safety cut out switches on the lathe. The safety switches are typically on the chip guard, emergency stop, end guard and lock micro switches. I want to remove the separate safety controller an revert to the original safety arrangement. I need the circuit diagram and installation notes for the Crabtree 815 Starter which is integrated in the machine control unit to rewire the safety switches in series with the Crabtree 815 Starter. Can anyone help or point me the direction where I can obtain a circuit diagram. The supply is three phase from a converter.

A few questions if I may.

Is the lathe and all it's associated safety systems working as it is now?
Why do you want to retrofit the safety controls?
Is this lathe in a workshop that's used or accessed by others or is it only for your own personal use?
Does your proposed retrofit satisfy the EWAR regulations?
Just out of interest what type of 3-phase converter is being used?

The lathe is not working now; but was working originally before I purchased it. This lathe came out of a school and has too many safety locks wired through a separate control box. I want to remove the extra safety locks and control box and revert to the original safety locks. The lathe is being used for my use only, no one else can access it. The original safety locks satisfy the regulations in the UK for my use. The three phase converter is a Transwave type.
