Hi There,

I started work for a kitchen company, I don't know much about electrics but am court in the middle of a argument between our fitter and our boss...

Basically in a install we are doing there is one supply for the existing oven, however in the new kitchen there is a induction hob (which needs its own supply apparently), a combi oven and a single oven. Our fitter says that we need to run a new supply for the oven/combi and put the induction hob on the existing supply. My boss says that the combi/oven can be put on the kitchen ring main (e.g. not adding one new supply) and put induction hob on the current oven supply....

I may not have the lingo right, but the combi and oven are each rated at 3.5kw ? if thats the right thing? so what would be the right thing to do?

Regards

If its over 3kw in cannot go on the ring, And even if its over 2kw I think theres a recommendation (might be in the regs, I can`t remember now) that it goes on its own circuit.
Had the same problem this week and I put the hob on the existing cooker supply and ran 2 x 16 amp radials for oven and combi,( had to upgrade the CU though)

A cooker circuit can be used to supply more than one cooking appliance as long as they are within max distance from control switch ,up to 50 amp
