According to the NICEIC who posted an advertisement in 1966, they make a point to householders that it take 5 years to train as an Electrician, the same as it does to train as a Doctor. The organisation also introduces measures to ensure that rural district councils are aware of the benefits of using only approved contractors. How times change

Times do change, bet when NIC did start, it went down like a wet weekend with the other non NIC sparks. Chatting to a gas plumber the other day about schemes, he said there was only the one 'gas scheme', make's you wonder why we haven't something similar? Although I guess that would stop the likes of Stroma under cutting the registration fee!

Correct, Gas Safe Register, formerly GORGI. And if you're not registered, no touching of anything gas-related no matter what.

But plumbers still have DIY messing with water. So DIY annoy them as much as they do some sparks.
