Hi guys

Just a quick one. Doing 2394/5 going through mock paper can't find answer anywhere. How would a continuity test on length of steel trunking be carried out? Any help appreciated

i think as ive never come accross it yet, do as you would do with bonding to make sure there is continuity

So a long lead test!

TEST METHOD 2
Where metallic enclosures have been used as protective conductors, eg conduit, trunking, steel wire armouring, etc. the following procedure should e followed.

1. inspect the enclosure along its length for soundness of construction
2. perform the standard ohmmeter test using the appropriate test method descried above. (Method 2)

This is read out of GN3 Page 35 (red) Section 2

What exactly are they wanting you to test for?

Testing the actual trunking itself to ensure joints are electrically sound would mean testing the resistance between two points a measured distance either side of the joint, say 1M either side for example, then compare the result to the resistance of a 2M complete section of trunking. A good joint should show no increase in resistance

Thanks for help chaps. As ever is quite hard to be sure what question is asking for but as Duane has mentioned imagine that they must be asking for a wandering lead continuty test from bonding conductor at board to the trunking itself. I think I'm right in thinking this should be within 0.05 ohms
