Garage install using 4.0mm SWA 3core, clipped direct 10m then buried underground 10m.

Would 4.0mm SWA be sufficient to carry at most 38 amp? (32amp ring + 6amp lights)

Looking in regs (page 280) I'm not sure what to use 6.0mm or 4.0mm, as for 3core it states maximum current carrying capacity (buried) would be 30amp?

Or would this be 37amp as it is single phase..?

Using diversity I am 100% sure the 4.0mm cable would be ideal for the intended use of the garage but need to be 100% sure! Lights only pulling 320w.
 
if in doubt, always go bigger. future demand could increase, so go for 6mm. little difference in cost .
 
IMO you would be pushing 4mm. max. fusing for 4mm is 32A and you have said it may be 38A. if it were my job. i'd be fitting 6mm min. maybe even 10mm.
