Design Pricing?

Hi all, I have been asked by a client (QS) to provide pricing for design of electrics, and also pricing for the installation.

I have no problem in pricing up the installation costs etc.

But I have no idea of costing for the design of the system?

Has anyone any ideas or rules of thumb when pricing up the design of the electrical installation?

10% of contract sum as rule of thumb depending of size of contact (imdemnity ins. a must )

Not sure but the value of the property I would imagine is around 1 million pounds mark.

The contract without looking at the plans I would figure around 20-25K

I have the usual 2 million pounds insurance... but imdemnity i think is either 50k or 100k, I am just checking this now with my broker.

I have a set amount of £100 for design services and if they take the work with me then its included free with the cost of the contract (making sure you make enough on the contract)

So for a £10k job you charge £100 for design mmmm

Again thats a base price for Kitchen Design - It all depends - I do like what you said about the 10% though - might change it for that tbh

Would it be ok to ask how much public indemnity most of you have?

I spoke with my broker and it's 75k
