halogen are known for blowing. also wasteful. time to convert to LED. simple bulb change, although the dimmers ,if fitted, may not be suitable for LEDs.
 
The poor quality of the replacement halogen lamps is likely to be the reason they keep failing.
 
It's not only the quality of the lamps that's the problem, it's the quantity.
If you have a single lamp in the centre of a room, as we used to, then, if it has a rated life of 2000 hrs, then you would expect to replace it after 2000 hrs of it being lit.
If you have ten downlights in a room, each with a rated life of 2000 hrs, then you can expect to replace a lamp every 200 hrs on average.
 
convert to LED 10 x the lifespan and 1/10 x the leccycost. isn't metric wonderful. a system designed for apes to be expert mathematicians.
