Regulations have nothing to do with it, manufacturers instructions take precedence over the regs and most manufactures suggest a seperate circuit for loads over 2kw not 2.2 as tel suggested lolRegulation number?
There is a recommendation that space heating over 2KW not be put on a ring circuit,

So how do the regulations go when joe bloggs the homeowner plugs his 3KW fan heater into any socket that is nearest to hand, be it on a ring or not?? Load of old rot this over 2 KW and it needs a separate circuit!!
That’s energy saving Dave

how can it save energy? to boil a kettle of water @3kw takes 5 minutes (15 amp mins). @2kw it takes 7.5mins (15amp mins). the same amount of joules needs to be put in to heat the water to boiling point whether it's 3kwatt or a candle.
