DIY pool pump installation (amps question)

Good morning all!

I think I have the right amps for a new inground pool pump but I need to ask a pro. I don't want to burn my house down ?
The old hardwired pump I'm removing has worked great for years. Its amps are stated like this, "7.8 - 7.4/14.8." The new pump I want to replace it with has this "11.5/5.7 amps." Do the lower amps on the new pump present a problem? I don't think so, but I need to ask.

Super! They're both stated as 115/230V, 1 HP.

I thought that because the higher amp number for each pump was on different sides of the slash mark, that was just a different way of indicating the range of amps, not an actual numerator/denominator. So am I wrong? The new pump has more amps? Not a problem I'm told.

The new pump is indicated this way: 115/230 V, 11.5/5.7 Amps. I guess that agrees with what you said.
The old pump: 208-230/115 volts, 7.8-7.4/14.0 amps

Your old pump quotes the volts and amps the other way around.
