My assessor let me do it on live supply....It all depends on the assessor mate. With a live supply you are still proving your voltage tester.

As I've previously read on here. Better safe than sorry get a proving unit!

OR IF YOU HAVE THE GUYS NUMBER RING HIM AND ASK HIM!

NIC require them as far as I know. I'm with elecsa, they don't ask for one.

Wouldn't bother with a check box, the schemes make you think you can get 3 years between calibrations if you have one, but in reality they make it impossible. Just calibrate every year, and if you want one for your own peace of mind, make one yourself with ebay resistors, cost about a quid.

The NICEIC AC scheme - no one ever gets asked for a proving unit (In my experience). I have no idea about DI but would think it would be the same??

NICEIC DO require you to keep a record of accuracy of test instruments http://niceic.com/Uploads/File3753.pdf so if you were going NIC you would need a checkbox / calcard.

Well the NIC rules don't clearly state it only thing I can find is in 4g.

has test instruments appropriate to the range and scale of
electrical work undertaken and maintains and records the
accuracy and consistency of all test instruments used for
certification and reporting purposes;

although the area engineers that I know seem to demand monthly recorded accuracy records.
