there is nothing wrong with buying on ebay.
quite often i make it a point to research items from the manufacturers sites before i purchase from ebay
quite often i find info that's missing in the descriptions.
most sellers are pretty good about getting relevant info but you cant expect perfection.

by the way an led is a diode (passes current in one direction and blocks it in reverse)
in short it converts an ac voltage to a pulsating dc voltage.
most lights of this type have regulating circuitry in them

They will run on DC or AC.......only problem is, on AC polarity does not matter, with dc polarity does, so you will need to identify which is the positive lead

That may be the case with an individual LED, but I would be surprised if this light didn't contain an up-front rectifier, followed by a constant current driver (seeing as the stated supply voltage is 12 to 15V AC). In which case, supply polarity won't matter. I think that there's a fair chance that it'll work OK.
