HI Guys and Girls,

Sorry been out the game for a while so a bit behind on the regs etc and changes with rental properties

on a rental property i own, we had a EICR had 1x c2 (burn damage on a 20a switch) which was replaced

the letting agency is requesting a EIC for the updated work of swapping the switch

is this correct now? is an additional certificate needed for swapping out a switch if all tested ok after the EICR?

Thank you

Personally I wouldn't issue either an EIC or a minor works certificate if it is a like for like accessory replacement. If this was remedial work for an EICR I would probably write a simple report stating what I'd done to rectify the issues.

An EIC is for new circuits and distribution board changes/installs only. A minor works certificate is for changes to the fixed wiring of existing circuits.

Thank you exactly what i had in my head of how it used to be and was making sure it hadn't changed in the 4 years since i left electrics as i know a lot had changed.

If I was asked for a certificate for that job, I would issue a minor works cert.
sometimes it’s just easier to do that than send a letter explaining what has been done and a covering letter to explain why this is all that is required!
