I intend to make a coffee trailer from a horsebox and I have to think about wiring/what plug to use, what socket to use to connect the generator to the box, etc.

- how I have to choose the right generator, having next appliance: a small boiler for hot water (not sure yet about its power), sliding door refrigerator - 1.5/2Kw, coffee machine - 3.8Kw, grinder 1.5Kw

• what breaker box to put inside should I use two breakers one for lighting and one for plugs,
• would be better to add as well a breaker with differential protection

if you know some web site as well where to buy this stuff would be very useful

that a lot of power for a catering trailer. in the region of 40+ Amps. i'd consider bottle propane gas equipment for the larger items.

I'm guessing the design of this would have to comply with section 717 of the wiring regulations for mobile or transportable units.

Will you be using this trailer at events where power will be supplied ? if so compatible inlets may be a consideration. Many will limit a stall/stand to 16A.

You want to be designing this with as low as possible requirements for electrical use.
Are you sure the fridge would be 1.5 - 2kW ? Sounds like you may have multiplied the power by ten by mistake?
I also know you can get commercial grinders less than 500W.
I appreciate you will be pretty much stuck with high power consumption if you use an espresso machine though, but maybe consider a 2 group over a 3 group if you can.

yeah, the trailer may be used as well on events,

so I have to look for a better refrigerator+ grinder

the coffee machine is 2 group 3.8 kW

I normally don’t suggest this, but as it’s going to be used at events etc, where members of the public will be near, Will your insurance company state it needs to be done by a scheme member electrician to be covered? If so, they will design it to your needs.

As others have said using gas rather than electric may be a good option. But be aware a catering trailer comes under commercial gas regulations.

It’s also illegal to undertake any sort of work DIY of otherwise on a gas installation.
