An electrician faces the sack for displaying a small palm cross on the dashboard of his company van.


Former soldier Colin Atkinson has been summoned to a disciplinary hearing by the giant housing association where he has been employed for 15 years because he refuses to remove the symbol.
Mr Atkinson, a regular worshipper at church, said: ‘The treatment of Christians in this country is becoming diabolical...but I will stand up for my faith.’


Throughout his time at work, he has had an 8in-long cross made from woven palm leaves attached to the dashboard shelf below his windscreen without receiving a single complaint.
But his bosses at publicly funded Wakefield and District Housing (WDH) in West Yorkshire – the fifth-biggest housing organisation in England – have demanded he remove the cross on the grounds it may offend people or suggest the organisation is Christian. Mr Atkinson’s union representative said he faces a full disciplinary hearing next month for gross misconduct, which could result in dismissal.

Absolutely rediculous. The Housing Association should not be taking the action and wasting its valuable resources.

John I like you mate cos you talk sense; but, you are wrong in stating that this 'is engineered by do-gooders with nothing to do'. THIS IS PRECISELY want they want to do. EVEN a top advisor to 'red' Ed Millibrand, a lord someone or other - so much for that mug being against the house of lords then, has said that Liebore got it totally wrong on the subject of immigration. And that it WAS a deliberate policy of the Government of the day to allow mass immigration in order to rub the rights' nose in it - DESPITE, warnings that it would have a detrimental effect on the working class, particulary in Liebore heartlands. All I can say as a memeber of Protect Our Palms I for one am glad to see an organisation in the UK taking a stand against the clear exploitation of the natural palm. These palms have been much maligned over the years. They have been uncerimoniously ripped from the ground and made to perform un-natural acts in the name of .....nic nacs.

It is time that all upstanding and law abiding people of not only the UK, but the world stood up as one united frorce to stop this heinious explotation of the innocent plam .......... I think this is a really good idea, and I'll be getting one of these palm crosses for the motor.

As has already been said NOBODY of other faiths or religions (apart from the nuts and bombers) gets offended by symbols and icons of other faiths. It is just the powers that be who seem hell-bent on destroying any identity this country had..... and for what? So they can't be sued, presumably. This is what needs to change in the western world, the horrible blame culture that has crept into every day life, it should be made much more difficult to take somebody to court for reasons such as this. Maybe then people will start taking responsibility for themselves and stop trying to make a quick buck out of anything that may happen to them or anything that could be loosely construed as 'offensive'.

I apologise for the rambling nature of this post, I think I may still be drunk from last night......
