I`m rewiring a bungalow. There is existing metal conduits with rubber bungs on the ends for the switch drops. I`ve taken out the old wooden boxes and replaced with new metal boxes. I want to use the old conduits to run the new switch lines. What I want to know is do the conduits need earthing and if so how?
Thanks
Andy

Why would they need earthing, they are just providing mechanical protection for the cables route to the switch!! You don't earth metal capping do you!!!

These were standard spec in council houses during the fifties....

just check that no numpty has boarded the attic and squashed the tops of the tubes. they usually came just above the tops of the ceiling joists.

No boarding in the loft. The tubes don`t come out much higher than the plaster boards. Its been really straight forward doing the lights today. Got most of them first and second fixed as well as the switches.
Thanks
Andy

can always chuck in a couple of sockets FOC to compensate.
