hi there guys,
just wanting bit of advice if you don't mind.
iv never had to install a meter before so be kind :)

iv been asked by a local business to fit an external socket. which isn't a problem.
the external socket is for a different business - a catering van and they want to charge the catering van for the amount of electricity they use.

the 3phase board is only 3 meters at the most from the wall they want the external socket.

was thinking- breaker from the board to an 2 pole isolator to the meter (either normal or prepay) then to socket.

isolator and meter will be in a cabinet out side on the wall.
by cable cals i'll only need 2.5mm
but can you use 2.5mm for the meter?

any advice would be grateful

Well the installation look fine. The only thing which is not your concern but the company asking is the resale of electricity.

I can remember when in the UK that you had to get the providers permission to sell on their electricty. It may have changed and I could be talking through my ..............

You can charge for usage Malcolm, and a small charge to cover cost.

Ok,
1. Commercial power can be resold for any price that has been agreed between the two parties.
2. Use a meter that is MID certified, so it would meet the requiremement of a meter operator
3. Put seal on the meter.
4. Depending on the relationship between the two parties you may want to either put the load cables to the meter in separate trunking or even put the the meter outside in a clear polycarbonate box.
5. You can get some meters that use 2.5mm, but at that length what is a cost of 6mm if needed?

Have a look at DDS353 – Single Phase 45A MID Certified kWh Meter

Thanks guys much appreciated,
after going around and talking to the customers face to face, I'm going to use 6mm to future proof the installation. and also add 16A or 32A 230v blue socket
