Hi All, thanks for any advice.
I fitted some spike lights about 12 months ago in a customers garden and also some in my own (14 in total). Last October customer phoned to say lights were tripping RCD and when I investigated it turned into a nightmare. It was my fault partly because I made SWA off into resin joint and flexed light out of resin joint as well to stop any water ingress ( now use adaptable boxes and gel), however a days labour lost later and resin joints cut off I found out the flex on the spike lights was down not the fittings. I fitted 2 new spike lights and all was ok.
Since sorting the customer has had exactly the same happen again with another circuit that has spike lights on and also mine have done the same , I cut every flex of mine and every one is showing a really low reading. Seems like cable is absorbing water or something.
I have googled the problem and also found others have had the same thing happen.
The problem I've got is what to replace them with! I've brought two from rexel different make (enlite), but they have exactly the same flex ( Chinese rubber cable beginning with X) installed as faulty ones I got off internet.
I was wondering if anybody had had the same problem and also has anyone got any ideas what else I could use?
I thought about mini floods on a spike, but thought might look a bit rubbish.
Greatly appreciated if anyone can recommend anything.
